The Southern Cone in South America enjoys abundant supplies of water and arable land, and an ideal climate for double‐cropping, as well as a stable legal environment, good infrastructure and relatively low land prices compared with those in the northern hemisphere (Europe, USA). The region is a major producer and exporter of soft commodities, not dependent on subsidies.
